Whistle Barns
Whistle Barns is the newest wedding venue of the Best Day Ever group situated in the heart of Amber Valley, Derbyshire. The building has been completely renovated and thoughtfully restored, bringing together all the most important elements you could want from your wedding venue. For example, not many venues can boast their own on-site private pub! Set in beautiful private surroundings, overlooking their own stunning lake, Whistle Barns has already captured the hearts of many couples and with over 40+ weddings booked for 2026-27 we cannot wait to style lots of beautiful days there!
The following guide will take your through each aspect of your wedding day and include our tips and recommendations for styling the venue and maximising photo opportunities. The Ceremony..
The Ceremony Barn at Whistle Barns is a breathtaking space designed to make your “I do” feel truly unforgettable. With oodles of natural light and framed by beautiful vaulted ceilings, this space offers a perfect balance of rustic and modern. The incredible double staircase creates a beautiful entrance for the bridal party, while the neutral palette and exposed beams provide a versatile backdrop that works effortlessly with a wide range of wedding styles – and our florals enhance the room perfectly!
As wedding stylists, we love how the Ceremony Barn allows couples to completely personalise their ceremony. Whether you’re dreaming of a floral-lined aisle, a statement ceremony backdrop or subtle, thoughtfully placed details that elevate the space, this barn lends itself beautifully to bespoke styling. Against the vast rustic brick wall, a ceremony Arch / Moongate or Backdrop is a perfect focal point to be married in front of, and the ceremony table can hold any of our table arrangements – whether it be foliage or beautiful floral display! The table itself looks stunning with fabric table runners, full table fabric pleating or even left as it is. Aisle chairs dressed with drapes are a great way to frame your ‘runway’, and you can choose to add thoughtful details such as floral pieces, floral floor displays, LED candles or even simple white petals. With the large floor area at the start of the aisle, you even have the option of framing the aisle with plinths, florals, candles (or even disco balls!) – each element creating your own perfect ceremony.
Wanting to enhance the staircase? Why not add some of our floral floor displays around the base of the stairs, or even attach one of our oversized bows for a real wow factor. So many options to choose from!
The Wedding Breakfast..
Then comes the main event (once the ceremony is done, of course!). After you’ve said your vows and made it official, the celebrations continue in Whistle Barns’ impressive wedding breakfast room. Much like the ceremony space, styling the wedding breakfast here is a dream, thanks to an abundance of natural light pouring in through the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the beautiful lake. As venue stylists, we love seeing how each couple brings their own personality into the space — whether that’s soft, natural tones or bold combinations like bright pink and monochrome. Truly, this is a space where almost anything styling works.
If you opt for a top table or sweetheart table, this will likely back onto the wall on the right hand-side of the room as you enter giving you the perfect view of all your guests across the room. Often we’re asked to move ceremony arch/backdrop to behind the top table (we offer a return to move service for a small charge, or it is automatically included in our Whistle Barns Exclusive Package, as well as our Epic and Exclusive Packages!) and we can also add one of our ‘marriage-themed’ neon signs at this point to give it a ‘wedding breakfast glow up’. If you have opted for floral décor for your ceremony table then this can also be re-purposed for your table and to really enhance your ‘main’ table, you could opt for one of our beautiful chiffon top / sweet heart table skirts and/or fabric to run across the top of your table, as well as candles, depending on how much space you have. If you prefer to keep the table surface clear then our floral floor displays or a floral meadow can sit on the floor in front of your table too.
And for your guest tables? We have a huge selection of high and low centrepieces with varying faux floral colours, and couples can choose from ‘all-high’, all-low’ arrangement, or a mixture of high and low centrepieces which again is becoming popular. We offer a large choice of stands for our high-rise centrepieces, all of which are slender and do not block the view between your guests (yep, Auntie Susan at the back will be able to watch the speeches without any problems!). If you opt for low-level centrepieces, then these look amazing on their own, or can also come with candlesticks/candle boxes or glass vases placed in the centre (if you chose to have vases down the aisle, some of these could be added into the middle of the low level centrepieces after the ceremony – we’re all about repurposing!). Whistle Barns also offers the unique option of our Hanging Centrepieces – gorgeous foliage domes suspended from the ceiling, which can have a range of coloured florals added to suit your theme.
Additional styling of your guest tables will always depend on the space that you have and also your overall budget for wedding décor. We like to recommend using fabric table runners to bring colour and texture to the tables, we can also supply napkins to match your preferred theme. Charger plates or rustic mats are a popular addition, as well as candles & table numbers – just giving your guest tables the love & styling they deserve!
Once again, the chairs supplied by Whistle Barns for your wedding breakfast are crossed-back chairs which look fabulous decorated with beautiful chair drapes depending on your colour scheme.
The Wedding Reception..
Your evening celebrations will remain in the party barn once the venue have turned around the room for you. The dance area tends to be at the far end of the room, our light up LOVE letters are a popular option to light up your dancefloor! We also have a range of flower & sequin walls if you would like to create a classy photo backdrop for your guests. Alternatively, you may like a backdrop for the cake-cutting ceremony, in which case, a flower wall or moongate could be utilised for this and then converted into a photo backdrop once the cake has been devoured!
