Shottle Hall

Set in 14 acres of beautiful parkland, Shottle Hall offers a picturesque setting for weddings throughout the year.  The hall itself has a bright ceremony room, an orangery for dining and plenty of other pockets of space to keep your guests entertained.  The wedding venue also has a large marquee/barn to the rear of property which is adjoined to the coach house and offers an alternative ceremony space.  The marquee/new barn itself has a bar area and can also accommodate your wedding breakfast and evening reception if you prefer this space over the main hall.

This article will provide you with styling and décor inspiration for all aspects of your wedding day and suggest recommendations based on our past (and forthcoming) work at this amazing venue!

The Ceremony..

If you have opted for a ceremony in the hall, it will likely take place in the lounge which is a bright room filled with full length windows.  Our moongates are perfectly suited to the space behind your ceremony area and they don’t obstruct the view or sunlight from the window directly behind.  For your ceremony table, we can utilise fabrics and candles to decorate the area, or you may prefer one of our faux foliage runners to sit on the table or on the floor in front of the table. If you would like décor for your chairs, then we stock a range of colours and fabrics which work perfectly with the Chivari chairs that are provided by the venue.  Some of our couples opt for aisle chairs only, every other chair or the whole lot!  This completely depends on your budget and personal preference. Finally, if you would like an additional feature for the entrance to the aisle, then we can supply white or black plinths which can be topped with any of our floral domes, alternatively, our ficus trees offer a more rustic feel.

If you have opted to have your service in the marquee ceremony room then the same décor options apply, although there is slightly less space around the entrance to the aisle and plinths would not be suitable (however, we have supplied ruscus trees for this area previously).

The Wedding Breakfast..

The Orangery Restaurant at Shottle Hall is a marvellous setting for your wedding breakfast, there are full length windows surrounding the room and high ceilings, providing a bright and intimate space for you and your guests.

The top table or sweetheart table is generally situated at the far wall opposite the bar and a moongate is a popular choice for framing this area.  Alternatively, our arches (which are taller and wider) also look great because of the high ceilings in this room.  You may opt to add a wedding-themed neon to the arch or moongate at this point, and we can move items from your ceremony area (for a small return-to-move fee).  Similarly to your ceremony table, we can add fabric runners, candles and floral runners to your top table and we also have charger plates, napkins and table numbers available to hire for your top and guest tables.

For your guest tables, we have a range of floral centrepieces to choose from, high level options are supplied with a stand and the low-level options can sit on the table alone or with candles sitting inside of them.  We recommend adding fabrics to your guest tables which can compliment your chosen colour scheme and, once again, the chairs can be decorated with drapes and embellishments.  We have a range of charger plates, napkins, and top table numbers to add further colours and textures to your guest tables. A couple of final ideas for your wedding breakfast at Shottle Hall, our arches sit perfectly over the doorway which leads into the Orangery and can provide a spectacular entrance for your guests.  Also, we can supply an additional backdrop or more subtle décor for your cake table which offers another great photo opportunity during the cake-cutting ceremony.

If you have opted to have your wedding breakfast in the marquee then all of the above décor will apply but there is a height restriction in some areas of the marquee which is not suitable for our arches depending on the location of your top table.

The Evening Reception..

Your evening celebrations can be held in the Orangery Restaurant or some people opt for the larger space in the marquee (depending on your venue package).  Either way, we can supply items for both areas and there aren’t restrictions based on where you’re having your party!  Our flower walls are a popular choice as a backdrop for photos or can be used as a backdrop for a photobooth, we also have a selection of neons which can hang on the wall.  We tend to set up flower walls in the lounge area of the hall, some furniture may need to be moved but this doesn’t tend to be an issue with the venue.  If you are having your evening reception in the marquee then the marquee bar area tends to be a popular spot for a photo area.  Our 4ft light-up LOVE letters are a popular choice to light-up your dancefloor area and these are usually placed to the side of the dancefloor in the middle of the wall. For your guest table, we can supply a lockable Royal Mail post box which is a secure place for small gifts and envelopes.  Finally, you may want to treat your evening guests to some sweet options, for this we can supply our sweet cart and/or our donut wall (both stocked).
